2. KERB Saturday Markets take over Granary Square
It’s worth pottering along the canal on Saturday to check out the first KERB weekend food market at Granary Square in King’s Cross.
From 11am Kentishtowners will be able to read the papers (yup, The Guardian will be donating 100 copies for free), splash about in the fountains with a Vestal Vodka bloody mary (courtesy of K-Town gent Will Borrell) and taste brand new food creations from London’s “most innovative street food traders”.
So who’ll be there? Well, the Calthorpe Project – a communal garden and charity based just south of the Euston Road – will be selling their own homemade chutneys using ingredients from their garden. Then there’s Wild Cheese, an urban cheese maker from Tottenham, and Square Root Bike who will be cycling their homemade ginger beer and rhubarb soda from Stoke Newington.
Other highlights? Rainbo, for gyoza, buckwheat pancakes; Tongue n’ Cheek, for a delicious-sounding BLT (belly, lettuce and tomato or ox tongue with salsa verde). Or plump for Bell & Briskett’s east end salt beef. And for the sweet-toothed, Ice Kitchen’s artisan ice lollies sounds the biz – strawberries and cream, fresh mango, rose and pistachio or tequila slammer.
Sounds like you’ll need the walk back up the canal. Runs 11-3pm. Next dates are 3rd August and 7th September.
Next: a new bar takes on Shebeen

Kentish delight wine bar has re-arranged it’s letters… had never seen that place open before.
Please check the facts Kentishtowner. The Kentish Town Delight Tunnel Bar DOES NOT have a 2am alcohol licence. Its licence is 11.30 am Mon-Thu and midnight Fri and Sat. If they are selling alcohol until 2am then it is breaking the terms of its licence. The Police and Camden Enforcement have been notified.

Sorry, meant 11.30pm!

We did indeed check the facts – by going in and asking them.
Public details of the Kentish Town Delight Bar licence can be found here:

As you will see, from helpful Rich above, the licensing hours are 11.30pm during the week and midnight Friday and Saturday. You were lied to Kentishtowner. Good idea to check the facts properly on the Camden website before sowing seeds of dissension and jealously around Kentish Town. One of our members went into the Tunnel Bar and asked about their licensing hours and they looked sheepish and admitted their licence is only until midnight on Friday and Saturday.
