Pinboard: Amy singsong, art along the PoW – and a letter from Jay Gatsby?

79-year old long-term Kentishtowner Cynthia Cockburn has been in touch of late with not one but two projects she’s currently working on. First up is an exhibition of her own photography at Meadows Café, where the walls have been filled with 24 black and white, home-made prints around the theme Estuary.

“I took these photographs this last winter, in the sublime wet and muddy reaches of the Thames estuary,” says Cynthia. “I hope lots of Kentishtowners will share my pleasure in mud, water, sky and Thames sailing barges, along with Meadows’ excellent coffee too.” The photos will be on display until the end of June.

Cynthia is also involved with King’s Cross-based political choir Raised Voices, who are holding an informal event as SOAS in Russell Square next Thursday (30th) from 6pm around the topic of justice for Palestine. There will be spoken work and a dozen songs.

They are always keen for more voices to join the choir too – “particularly men!” – exclaims Cynthia. More info on everything here.
