Lo Sfizio: Anima e Cuore’s new deli opens

Plus, don't miss the new Ethiopian restaurant Harar on Malden Road

he masterful local restaurant’s still going strong if we take into account the fact that it’s still packed nightly (although we have to admit that an impromptu meal there last week didn’t hit the same heights as previously). And it’s good news that today the team have opened up a deli next door, where – should that table prove elusive – you can buy the ingredients for a stab at posh pasta in the comfort of your own home. It does beggar the question, however: why not move into a slightly bigger space? Still, our spy on the ground @secretartistnw5 has already been in and reports that it sells “amazing food from all over Italy. Fabulous meats and cheeses, and the wild mushrooms are to die for, not to mention garlic flowers and wild oregano.” Oh my. 119 Kentish Town Road NW5

West Kentish Town is, sadly, not a gourmet’s delight (although new arrival Pho Ta is awesome). One spot on Malden Road, however, housed, for a few years, the more than decent Persian restaurant Reyhana. Sadly it closed this year, but it’s now the second branch of Harar, an Ethiopian based in Vauxhall specialising in the cuisine of east Africa. There are lentil stews, curries and vegetarian and meat specialities, with Ethiopian coffee a speciality too. And it’s fully licensed, should you wish to make a night of it.
