3. Been to see a band at Poppies yet?
We were dismayed the other day to see that brilliant vintage shop Episode on Chalk Farm Road has shut its doors. And next door Author, the stylish footwear store, has cleared out too. What’s going on? It’ll soon be a line of Costa Coffees. At least Porky’s hipster ribs joint seems to be pulling ’em in.
And one place nearby which took over another “difficult” premises is Poppies Fish And Chips, now packed most meal times and still doing their music thing each weekend. To tempt Kentishtowners down, they’ve also got an offer on for early online bookings for Fridays and Saturdays. So, be an early bird and get a free drink here (applies to the first five table bookings each weekend night only), or just book online to be in with a chance for a free meal draw.
And this weekend’s acts? Goosebumps on Friday (think high-octane swing, jive, jazz, blues infused with cheeky on-stage humour) and Red Roosters on Saturday, “masters of hot syncopation”. Here’s the former filmed at the Poppies launch back in April:
Both acts start at 8pm. Poppies, Hawley Crescent (next to MTV).
Next: what two pubs are sadly a goner?

How do I get a t-shirt? I live on Alma street but we’re sadly on holiday for the festival…
Cheers!

Do you know where I could get an NW5 tote bag from?
Thanks
