1. Oh My. Tigers in St Pancras International?
Not quite. But random as this might seem, the world’s biggest tiger conservation event – Tiger Tracks – is about to take place at our local uberglam station. “With only 3,500 tigers left in the wild, lack of action now means that wild tigers could be extinct in 10 years,” says organiser Rob Joyce. “The Born Free Foundation and the Environmental Investigation Agency have come together to form Save Wild Tigers, a conservation awareness and fundraising imitative.”
And this celebration of all things tigrine will include a tiger tracker unit and a massive Tiger statue – but not, it seems the real, living, snarling thing. Oh well. Still, visitors can get involved with a public participation artwork designed by innovative artist Benjamin Murphy, who’ll create a giant tiger outline entirely from electrical tape, whilst retailers will offer an assortment of special promotions, from Searcys Champagne Bar’s tiger-themed cocktail menu to cuddly Terrance Tigers from Hamley’s.
There’s also a specific kids’ weekend on the 16th and 17th with a reading jungle, crafts area and dance workshops. And to top it all off, at the launch next Friday 1st March there’ll be a live musical performance from a ‘rock legend.’ Let’s hope he sings Eye Of The…
