Neighbour gets a makeover

A freshen up of the look – and the menu – at Kentish Town Road’s fave burger hangout

C

urious Kentishtowners will probably have already spotted something afoot at one of the high street’s bigger restaurants.

The closed doors and sudden appearance of often ominous misted-out windows and scaffolding are, in the case of Neighbour, actually harbingers of exciting things.

The place has been getting a 2020 refurb, complete with new menu, although never fear, the popular formula of serious burgers and decent beers in a relaxed all-day setting isn’t being messed with.

The menu has a sharper focus on the good stuff, the main event being that signature selection of burgers, including a decent spread of vegan and veg varieties, too. You’ll also find a Hot Chick section for wings, waffles, burgers and more for fried chicken fans.

There are all manner of different ways to have your fries, plus indulgent milkshakes, and look out for plenty more craft beers too. The restaurant, complete with subterranean cocktail bar Jukes, will still be taking its drinks seriously.

After a chequered recent history at this historic former police station site, including the closure of Kentish Canteen, the short-lived Joe’s Southern Fried Chicken, and on to Neighbour, it seems like the burgers have won the popular vote, and are only set to get better.

The spruced-up Neighbour re-opens today (Friday Mar 13th) at 300 Kentish Town Road, more on the website.
