Call us soppy suckers, but we, um, dig the idea of a wintry flurry on the hour, every hour – as a seasonal gimmick, anyway.
And from now until Xmas, clever old Camden Market is pressing this particular festive button as part of its “unique Christmas takeover” (you’ll need to be standing at either the Stables Market or East Yard canalside entrances for maximum alpine effect).
There’ll also be a Santa’s Gingerbread Workshop, Christmassy carols, alternative festive music from brass and steel pan bands and Roundhouse resident acts.
And it goes without saying that the festive street food line-up will be on point too, from #Instagold hot chocolates (Sri Lankan chai specialists Pamban will be launching their own deconstructed version, in fact) and weekly fondues at The Cheese Bar to vegan Xmas sarnies (Rudy’s Dirty Vegan Diner “Triple Ho Burger” comes with all the trimmings, while Young Vegans’ Santa’s Little Gobbler is a ‘Christmas dinner in a pie’).
And for all you eager gift-buyers there are themed food markets located in the North Yard, with festive gifts and stocking fillers, as well as non-alcoholic mulled wine and cider. Got a sweet-tooth mate? We particularly recommend Roly’s Fudge, where you can watch the stuff – yep, there’s a vegan option too – being made right in front of you.
Elsewhere in the market you can pick up ethical gifts (handbags made from paper by Unfold) one-of-a-kind personalised gifts (customised trainers – Koko Art), quirky homeware (Moomin Shop) and one-off antiques (Fleming Antiques).
So come on, snowflakes. Ahem.
