Ich Bin Kentishtowner: Tony Randon, reggae shop owner

Tony Randon

Tony Randon has run Camden Lock Market reggae specialists Massive International London since 1989. It is one of the area’s handful of surviving vinyl stores, supplying rare dub, the hottest new UK music and Jamaican imports, plus a large range of merchandise from t-shirts, posters and stickers to authentic Jamaican arts and crafts. You’ll also find him running stalls at reggae festivals all round Europe this – as every – summer.

When were you happiest?
I live in Tottenham right now but have lived in many parts of north London, Hackney and west London over the years, yet I’m always happiest here in Camden, because of the music.

Where would you most like to live?
London, full stop. I was born in the Midlands but as soon as I made it down here I knew it was the place for me. I started buying music in Camden in the 70s and have been here pretty much ever since.
