3 things to consider: Makers Market, New Wine Bar and Live Jazz

Been to Kentish Town Stores yet for some vino? Plus local pop-up market and a week of jazz at the Assembly House

WINE BAR: Kentish Town Stores

We adore the elegant lifestyle store and cafe just behind Kentish Town Road (read our interview with founder Luci Noel when it first opened here) and so when we heard about its new boozy evenings, well, we couldn’t be happier. Hic. It’s all friendly neighbourhood vibes so expect a frequently changing list of low intervention wines, and a selection of carefully curated beers from NW5 legends Caps & Taps, who have their own delightful taproom and shop up on Fortess Road. And wow, last week’s launch was packed. Open Thurs, Fri & Sat till 1030pm, 230A Kentish Town Rd, London NW5 2AB, more info, follow @kentishtownstores

LIVE MUSIC: London Jazz Festival and Monday Jazz Nights

It’s all about jazz at the Assembly House, with three impressive shows lined up for the EFG London Jazz Festival (Sam Jesson’s Magpie Trio on Monday night (14th), and two extra performances for the festival on Wednesday and Friday evenings (info here). While we’re on the subject, with the Oxford Tavern’s recent closure for refurbishment, the good news is its famous Monday night Jazz Club will now be in residence at The Assembly House for the rest of the year (tickets and info for the next few weeks here).

POP-UP: Minerva Makers Market

Located in a Victorian warehouse building on Bartholomew Road, Minerva Workshop was set up in 2019 by artist Lottie Cole to showcase expert knowledge of artists and artisans in an informal setting. This weekend sees the second Minerva Makers Market, offering a unique opportunity to buy direct or commission pieces from a host of local creative individuals, just in time for Christmas. Among the finds you can discover are finely crafted silverware, ceramics, furniture, painted lampshades, sustainable clothing, cushions, homewares and more. Sat 12th and Sun 13th Nov (10-5pm/ 10-4pm) at Minerva Workshop Unit 2, Dove Centre, 109 Bartholomew Rd NW5. To find out more about the workshops and schedule of programmes, head here.
