It’s hard to believe Torriano Avenue watering hole the Rose + Crown has been around nearly as long as we have in its current incarnation.
And it’s worth remembering that it was one of the area’s earliest adopters of serving beer solely from independent craft breweries. Which means, of course, there are no duds on tap here – and, better still, lots of local Hammerton and no ubiquitous Camden Hells.
But, like every boozer in the neighbourhood, the Rose + Crown has had its fair share of challenges this year.
The good news is it’s operating a takeout and delivery service right through lockdown, including one-litre growlers full of delicious, fresh beer or cider from its taps.
The line-up (see the blackboard for the full list, above) includes sumptuous pale ales and IPAs from Verdant, Siren, and Kernel. There’s also a face puckering Caribbean sour from Brick, an alternative breakfast option in Siren’s Cacao and Cherry breakfast stout, and a stunning lager from Leeds legends Northern Monk. There are cans and bottles too, as well as wine and prosecco, plus bar snacks.
And it couldn’t be simpler: the pub takes orders for local delivery and takeaway between 1pm-6pm on 0207 267 4305. If you choose delivery they promise to get your order to you WITHIN AN HOUR. Woop!
