Oh no! Beef & Brew has closed down

The classy steak joint was the go-to for carnivorous locals for nearly half a decade

This pioneering budget steakhouse genuinely offered something different to Kentish Town residents when it opened four years ago – great value cheaper cuts like flat iron, sliced beautifully rosy, with a decent list of craft beers, cocktails and wine.

And that broccoli! The monster charred portion easily served up three of our daily vegetable portions, fooling us into thinking that the accompanying skinny fries and rather dunkable sauces (stand up, peppercorn) were just as healthy.

So we were extremely heavy of heart to see that it is no more. “To coin a phrase,” says owner Dan Nathan on the restaurant’s website, “it is an ex-restaurant. It has ceased to be. It is with great sadness that we have taken the decision to sell our premises and business.”

He goes on: “We set up Beef & Brew in 2015 and worked ourselves to the nub opening the doors. We cannot claim that we got everything right all the time, but we are very proud of what we did achieve and of all the many happy customers we served along the way. To our team past and present and of course our customers, we owe you a lifelong thank you. ”

In a slightly enigmatic ending he says he hopes “that the new occupants of 323 Kentish Town Road enjoy the journey.”

Sad times. We’ll keep you posted when we hear what’s opening up at the site next.
