Two big forthcoming celebrations for Grafton addicts (and we know there’s quite a few of you out there).
First off, tomorrow night – after a couple of weeks’ “soft opening” – the new Fat Butcher kitchen launches properly with a bit of a bash. A raft of treats will include free canapes all night, an “oyster and ale bar” at £1 a pop, meat raffle at £1 a ticket, and – our favourite, as evidenced by our very good review a fortnight back – a rib of beef feasting special at only £10 a person (normally it costs £20). Not bad, eh?
Next week the boozin’ takes centre stage with the pub’s official first birthday party (is it really only a year?). To celebrate bagging two Kentishtowner Reader Awards (including Best New Opening 2012), Shortlist Magazine’s #5 pub in the UK, and CAMRA North London’s Pub Of The Season the party will be spreadeagled over the whole weekend (21 – 22 Sept). The (blurred) focus? A Beer Fest showcasing London breweries “small and large” with each session honing in on a different area – north, south, east, west.
Some choonage with that? Well, lots of live entertainment too to ensure it’s a good ol’ fashioned knees-up – from live bands to northern soul, 90s and of course piano singalongs. Plus there’s a fancy dress-up photo booth (try keeping us out of it).
So, inevitably, we’ll see you at the bar. And don’t forget to grab a copy of our new free September issue there too.
