FESTIVE LIGHTS SWITCH-ON
For so long there wasn’t one – and now it’s already Kentish Town Road’s fourth annual Festive Lights Switch-On bash. And quite a celebration it is too, this weekend, as KTR will be lit up from the Assembly House to the junction with Hawley Road this Saturday, 25th November.
The family-friendly event includes music from young musicians in Camden Brass Band, the Gospel Oak Choir, the Silver Spuds and former ‘X Factor’ contestant Nastasha Boon, of Kentish Town’s wonderful and extremely long-running Natasha’s Flowers, pictured above looking rather festive.
There’ll also be a Christmas crafts bazaar and stories for kids in Kentish Town Library, plus an array of special offers from Kentish Town Road’s diverse range of shops and eateries including: a generous 20% off Owl Bookshop, 20% off Morgan’s Stationery, Buy One Get One Free at Caliendo’s on hot drinks, 10% off Clapton Craft and 50% off Kossoff’s Hot Chocolate. Plus loads more, just see the flyers plastered across town.
And a reminder that all weekend the former poly is open hosting a pop-up cinema-themed poster sale, courtesy of the Camdenist. Read our main feature on this here. Lights Switch-on, Saturday 25th November, 4.30-9pm, Kentish Town Station Canopy, Kentish Town Library, The Assembly House.
MAKERS MARKET: 40 VENDORS NO LESS
After all that frivolity you may need to hit the church. Luckily next weekend, on Dec 2nd, a Makers Market comes to the Grade II-listed St Luke’s Kentish Town with 40+ independent makers, from illustrators to ceramicists to jewellers, exhibiting and selling handmade goods, plus wreath-making workshops. Tasty hot food vendors will lurk outside along with a sinful mulled wine or two. £2 entry, 11am – 4pm, St Luke’s, Oseney Cres, London NW5 2AT
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED DOWN THE FARM
Finally, on the following weekend, Sunday 10th December, there’s another convivial seasonal happening. If you’d like to volunteer at the evergreen Kentish Town City Farm’s very lovely Christmas Fayre just get in touch via the below email. Volunteering may cover face-painting, lucky dip, arts and crafts, selling, setting up, clearing away and more. “We will feed and water you, and if you’re lucky you may meet Santa,” say the organisers, no doubt with a glint in their eye. Drop them an email: volunteer@ktcityfarm.org
