Patron Highbury: enjoy Parisian brunch on its terrace

Enjoy authentic French brunch plates, each with a modern twist at Kentish Town's N5 sibling

It’s always fascinating checking out the second branch of a restaurant you love. And if you’re familiar with Patron’s longstanding Fortess Road original, why not try its newer Highbury sibling?

There is, we confess, another reason for a visit: the small matter of brunch. Whereas Patron Kentish Town majors solely on cocktails and dinner, with its sexily low-lit interior and intimate seating, from this weekend (May 14th) Patron Highbury opens its doors at 10am at weekends.

Why? To bring its unique French brunch menu to this vibrant corner of Blackstock Road. With its airy, relaxed interior, and buzzy pavement terrace, there’s something of the arrondissement about it.

Its bright and buzzy vibe makes it a perfect spot to start the weekend, with all the ingredients to make you feel like you’re having breakfast in Paris – even if you just have a black coffee and delicious pastry in the sun.

But the wider new brunch menu is pretty tempting, too, featuring authentic French brunch plates, each with a modern, exciting twist: take the raclette toastie, that comes with dauphinoise potatoes and caramelised onions; or the umami-rich cassoulet on toast with butter beans and traditional Toulouse sausage. Then there’s the mighty confit duck brioche bap (pic below) with red wine reduction, maple bacon and fried duck egg. Mouth watering yet?

Ultimate brunch classics also have their spot on the menu, including smoked mackerel kedgeree with rich yolk poached egg (our main pic, above), creamy wild mixed mushrooms on toast with Grana Padano shavings; vibrantly fresh avocado tartare, and – for a real Continental start to the day – a board piled with seasonal fromage, Serrano ham, croissant, French baguette and confiture.

And of course, there’s a cellar-full of booze to toast the weekend: pair your order with a glass of French vintage bubbles, Mimosa, spicy bloody mary or freshly squeezed orange juice.

Brunch at Patron Highbury will be served every Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 3pm and bookings are now open online. So grab a seat at one of the classic bistro tables, relax with friends in a cosy booth, or just walk in and plonk yourself down on a stool at the signature marble counter to be served directly by the chef.

For those craving to make the most of the London sun Patron’s Parisian-style street terrace is always available for walk-ins, and can also be booked via telephone (020 80370549) or email highbury@patronlondon.com.
