Minerva Makers Market: Bartholomew Road's artisan shopping weekend

Buy direct or commission pieces from a host of local artists and makers in the heart of Kentish Town

Located in a Victorian warehouse building on Bartholomew Road, Minerva Workshop was set up in 2019 by artist Lottie Cole to showcase expert knowledge of artists and artisans in an informal setting.
Lottie has lived in Kentish Town for almost a decade and through Minerva Workshop has discovered a huge quantity of makers, artists and creatives, all mainly based in the area.
I should know. I’m an upholsterer and seat-weaver by trade (@sophiejanecarterchairs), also living nearby. It was a casual conversation with Lottie about a potential makers’ market that seemed a wonderful opportunity to introduce locals to all the talent they may not know exists on their doorstep.

So without further ado, Lottie and I are chuffed to announce that the first ever Minerva Makers Market takes place over two days this month (Nov 13th and 14th), offering a unique opportunity to buy direct or commission pieces from a host of creative individuals, just in time for Christmas.
Among the finds you can discover are opulent handmade lampshades from The Charlotte Campbell Collection, graphic printed textiles and cushions from Tamsin Salinger Textiles (pictured above), fine vessels and objects by silversmiths Willow Workshop and vintage stools restrung in bright cotton cord by yours truly, pictured below.

There are also paper goods, specialist paints and brushes, vintage lamps and more besides. Visitors can also discuss their own personal projects with makers if they’d like to commission something bespoke.
“The idea is to offer a more creative alternative to high-street gift buying,” says Lottie, “although we are, of course, very conveniently located just off Kentish Town Road.”
Minerva Makers Market runs on November 13th (11am-5pm) and November 14th (12midday-4pm) on Minerva Workshop Unit 2, Dove Centre, 109 Bartholomew Rd, London NW5 2BJ. To find out more about the workshops and schedule of programmes, head here.
