Where to find your Xmas issue of Kentishtowner

In which we unveil our favourite plates of 2017 at some of the area's best restaurants, pubs and cafes

Exactly seven years ago, when Kentishtowner had just started out as a lightly irreverent blog, we published our first ever end-of-year rundown of top places to eat and drink.

High up on the list back in 2010? Why, the Southampton Arms and newly opened Kentish Canteen, as well as Map Studio Café and once-ace indie venue The Flowerpot (remember that?)

Fast forward to the final weeks of 2017 and how things have changed in the meantime: thankfully, despite a flurry of closures, quality new arrivals continue to open, including acclaimed vegetarian gaff Ceremony and all-day brasserie and cocktail bar Neighbour.

For this seasonal issue we’ve chosen our ten top dishes from these, as well as some old faves, in and around the area.

Elsewhere, we count down a dozen diverse things to consider over the coming festive season, and author Guy Fraser Sampson gives us a heads-up on the Hampstead locations that inspired his current series of novels. We also revisit a couple of Kentish Town dining institutions, E.Mono and Bintang, as well as check out Cuban newcomer Little Havana. And tiny Somerset city Wells is the focus of our latest 24-hour Weekendr jaunt.
