FLOWERS: Drop the Fbombe

Like blooms? There’s now a flower studio “with a difference” based in Kentish Town. It’s the concept of two women offering an eco-friendly alternative to the imported flower business. They work with growers inside the M25 (including NW5) and as their work is seasonal, they admit they’re forced to “be a whole lot more creative than the usual flower designers”. They’re already building a reputation, having recently been commissioned to decorate the Great Hall of the British Museum. More info here.

FITNESS: Do Good Gym

Exercise, do good deeds, combat loneliness. Photo: GoodGym.
This socially-minded Camden-based (part of a UK-wide) venture helps charities and non-profit organisations with physical work. Volunteers complete a weekly 30-minute task at food banks, homeless shelters, city farms, community centres and gardens. Meanwhile, small groups of DBS-checked runners also aid older, isolated people who are not able to do a task on their own, or simply need a chat, thereby combating loneliness. More info here.
