MUST DO: Comfort food

Need to tuck in now the hour's gone back? Three tips for cosy brunch, streetfood and dinner

BRUNCH: Go bottomless at Colonel Fawcett

It’s now been around for four years, but this destination food pub is still as worth making a beeline to as ever. Drag your hungover bones this weekend to the chef’s new daytime session which, over a two-hour slot, allows you to scoff a carb-rich brekkie, from traditional Full English (with posh touches like black pudding and apple croquettes) to more zeitgeisty options like ‘smashed’ avocado and poached eggs on toasted sourdough. Best of all, top yourself up with as many Bloody Marys or mimosas as you can guzzle. (Did you know, incidentally, that the difference between a US-style mimosa and the hoary old Buck’s Fizz is that the former is equal parts prosecco and orange juice, while the latter is two-thirds OJ?). Bottomless brunch £25 per head, every Sat & Sun, 11am-4pm, 1 Randolph St NW1

STREETFOOD: Wingman at Rose & Crown

We have to say we had a bit of a penchant for previous residency Smoking Buns – you know, the one that did the lovely lobster rolls – but this new replacement at the ace Torriano Avenue hangout looks pretty damn fine too. Expect warming fare for winter like baos, wings, burgers, fritters, tacos and all manner of spicy Korean and Asian-inspired dishes (of varying degrees of healthiness). And don’t miss the signature vodka and sesame battered wings. Even better, on Friday 6th November, there’s a giveaway of 500 free wings and a 100 pints of Camden Hells. Wowsers. Wingman serve up Thurs-Sun, 71-73 Torriano Ave NW5

DINNER: Joginder’s Supperclub

What could be more suited to these ever-shortening days than this Tufnell Park institution? Dishing up fine Punjabi food monthly in a cosy home environment, Joginder has just celebrated its sixth birthday, named after organiser Ma Rani’s mother, who was “an inspiration in life, cooking and love”. Each event usually sells out instantly but if you’re quick there may be a couple of spaces at the last two dinners of the year, on the 14th November and 12th December. Pitch up at 7pm for a drink, with an intimate supper from 7.30pm. For more details on availability and prices email jogindersupperclub@hotmail.com
