Can you believe Fortess Road’s late night music, cocktail ‘n’ pizza joint opened its doors four years ago now? And happily, it’s still throbbing if you pop by for a Sidecar after midnight on a random Tuesday.
The big news is they’re putting on a totally free festival next weekend (Sept 27 and 28), featuring a dozen bands over two days. Acoustic sets rule upstairs – perhaps accompanying a wood-fired cheesy delight or two – with full bands blasting it out downstairs.
Organising both days are tastemaker types Stunt Fox and White Noise, who’ve assured us they’ve selected the most ear-tickling talent from north London and its surrounds. Here’s the rundown:
Saturday 27th: Stuntfox presents
The Dash, George Frakes, The Petals, Yan Yates And The Two Dollar Hookers, The Rusty Suns and Jimmy Brewer
Sunday 28th: White Noise Presents
Ragweed, Jon Fazal, Abbey Bowden, Death Pedals, Adam Cleaver and Bear Vs Manero
Exclusive Competition
As we’ve said, the festival is free to get in, but how about a booth reserved with bottle of wine and free pizza so you can get a front row seat? Just answer this question: what year did Aces & Eights open? Answers to events@kentishtowner.co.uk. Competition closes on Wed Sept 24 at midnight and a winner will be randomly picked thereafter
Both floors are quite intimate so free tickets need to be booked upfront here. 27 and 28 Sept, 156-158 Fortess Rd NW5 2HP, starts 4pm each day.

Great, we’ll have drunken fools shouting all night in Fortess Road, keeping us awake 🙁
