This week reader Mat Shreeve dropped us a line to say local graffiti legend Mr P has just finished an impressive new mural in Crown Place, off Kentish Town Road.

“As residents and owners of Crown Place, there’s been a seven year long dispute about who owns the lane and should clear the bin store space,” he says. “Boring as that may, it’s also been a common dumping ground for all kinds of rubbish, ironically only two roads down from the Regis Road Recycling Centre. So we commissioned Jack [Mr P] to get a mural for the lane end. Hopefully by making Crown Place look more ‘cared for’ this will deter fly tippers.”

Mr P’s work can be seen all around Kentish Town, most notably above the station and Flaxon Ptootch. But even though this new piece is hidden down an alley, Mat says, “I notice most people on the high street look down our lane automatically when walking down the street, as you effectively cross the road every time you go by as a pedestrian.”

So there we have it. Another colourful artwork in K-Town worth seeking out. What are your thoughts? And check out the shots over the next few pages, exclusively taken for us by photographer Sally Lyall Grant.
