MUST DO: Art & Music spesh

Gig and art highlights to catch over the next week or two

ART: New show at DRAF

The last big show by Charles Avery at this Camden backstreet gallery won our hearts so we can wholly recommend keeping an eye out for this one. Greater than the Sum is by contemporary art space Kunsthalle Lissabon in Lisbon. It’s a pan-European collaboration which places ‘radical hospitality’ – defined as sociability, solidarity and generosity – at the core of the institution. The six installations present ideas of friendship, community and playfulness. Until 29th July. Free. Symes Mews, Camden High Street NW1

MUSIC: The Forum vs Jazz Café

Two of our favourite local music venues have a busy few weeks ahead. At Kentish Town’s Forum there’s House Of Pain’s 25th anniversary bash (17th June), classic sample heavy house act Avalanches (21st June) and Irish punk rockers Flogging Molly (29th June). Meanwhile, over at the recently spruced-up Jazz Café (Parkway NW1) performers include Omar (10th June) and Frank McComb (26th June).Visit the Forum here and Jazz Café here

ART: Coster at Free Space Gallery

Tinnitus portrayed through sculpture. Photo: Free Space

Artist Victoria Coster is one of an estimated five million people in the UK to be living with the condition known as tinnitus. Arising from the need to find a common language to relate her sudden shift in sound-sense perception, Victoria devised a questionnaire for other tinnitus sufferers to respond to. In this show she presents us with moving images, sound, objects, etching, screen prints and drawing, all rooted in the framework of a sculpture practice. Until 16th June (Mon-Fri, 9am-6.30pm). Free Space Gallery, Bartholomew Road NW5
