We all know what goes on at Rio’s up the road. And, lest we forget, similar pleasures were deliriously on tap at the former Omega sauna deep within the old South Kentish Town tube station.
That closed back in 2013, but guess what? It looks like its next incarnation will be as Crystal Maze-style “escape game” venue. Oo-er missus.
French entertainment company Mission Evasion has submitted plans for the subterranean venue to Camden Council, the idea being for groups of three to six people to escape in 60 minutes flat from a locked room. Yes, this is actually meant to be for fun.
“You have to dig deep to find and collect clues scattered throughout the set,” they say on their website, “then find the codes or keys, or combine objects to solve puzzles that will help you advance the story and so escape in the allotted time.”
Cripes. It’s all about “team cohesion and communication”, apparently, and will, inevitably, be rammed with hen parties, birthday bashes and office-workers on team-building exercises.
Interest stirred? The nearest escape game venues are currently HintHunt in Euston and ClueQuest in Islington. We’ll keep you posted if the proposed Kentish Town Road one makes it a threesome.
