If you’re an Enter Shikari fan you’re probably heading down to the Abbey Tavern tonight as there’s quite a bash on. And, by the way, did you know a couple of them are locals?
Anyway, the reason for the do is it’s the launch event for the Vans Warped Europe Tour, and features Shikari Sound System, Enter Shikari’s DJ moniker, on the decks. From 630pm there’s a VIP and competition winner BBQ thang; then the free public event is (first come, first served) from 8pm. SSS are DJing from 9pm till a hangover-inducing 1am.
For the uninitiated, the band formed in 2003 in St Albans, have had three (and two Top 5) albums. Their style? Post-hardcore/metalcore/electronic/dubstep/industrial. And a few more crossover genres thrown in.
But SSS is a relatively new side project for the boys, only debuted at this summer’s Reading and Leeds Festival, where they headlined the Lock Up/Rock stage. Frontman Rou assured fans on his Twitter page that it would be “the same 4 scallywags but playing a live dance set”. And that sums up what you can expect tonight. Here’s a taster:
To soak up all the booze, Phileas Hogg will be in the kitchen with their usual high quality BBQ fare: think pulled pork, decent burgers, salt beef, and sweet potato, bean and herb patties for the veggies. Watch out for a review in our food section soon.
