LGBT+ History Month: Camden highlights 2025

And it's celebrating its 20th anniversary this year

The other night we swung by the launch of Camden and Islington’s LGBT+ History Month 2025, pictured above, attended by the mayors of both boroughs, as well as performers and other local notables.

Held in February each year as a month-long celebration of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans history, it also serves as a means of raising awareness for the issues faced by LGBT people. This year is even more special as the national campaign for LGBT History Month is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2025.

The theme this year is Activism and Social Change, the aim to reflect on the achievements of the past and pay tribute to the amazing activists who have enabled equality. These are inspirational Camden and Islington individuals, campaigners and community groups who achieved so much positive social change.

Just a little note (I’d love you to read this) Kentishtowner turns 15 soon – which isn’t too shabby for an independent food & culture site run on almost zero resources. And, as usual, a billion thanks to those who donate. But to put it into perspective, that’s just under 5% of readers in the last year. If you’re sitting on the fence a bit, maybe just ping over a couple of quid? After all, that’s cheaper than a coffee almost anywhere these days. Support Kentishtowner here
