MARKET: Camden Beer Hall and Go East Vintage collab
Camden Town Brewery’s cobbled mews, adjoining Kentish Town West overground (pictured above), have long been a delightful spot for a streetfood market or three. So it’s nice to see, instead, a two-day vintage fair taking over the joint later this month – aided, of course, by a pint or two of Hells.
In case you don’t know them, Go East Vintage are regulars over in our sister title Leytonstoner’s neighbourhoods – venues like Waltham Forest Town Hall, East Village Stratford and Walthamstow Trades Hall.
And now they’re coming to NW5: with a focus on sustainability, the team promise to bring together an array of small businesses offering one-of-a-kind, vintage pieces that “are both stylish and eco-friendly”, say founders Onur and Louisa: as well as vintage clothing, expect bags, accessories, art, jewellery, midcentury furniture, ceramics, stoneware, glassware, rugs and home decor treasures. Saturday 30th November and Sunday 1st December from 12pm to 6pm, Camden Beer Hall, Wilkin Street Mews, follow @go.east.vintage

COMMUNITY: Camden Food Growing Celebration
Castlehaven is a 38-year-old community charity in Kentish Town’s lower reaches – OK, Camden Town – which offers inclusive spaces and programmes to help people “connect, learn, and thrive,” as they put it.
Next Tuesday afternoon they invite readers and residents to their Camden Food Growing Celebration, which aims to bring together local food-growing groups, community organisations, individual growers, and others passionate about sustainability and organic food production. The idea is to foster connections, share knowledge, and celebrate this movement in Camden that promotes healthy living, environmental stewardship, and local resilience.
You’ll be able to exchange ideas, and discuss urban challenges, hear from experts on sustainable growing practices, and look at local initiatives and short films showcasing community projects. Tuesday, 5th November 2024, from 2pm to 630pm at Clarence Hall, Clarence Way Estate, Hawley Road (Behind Quinns Pub) Camden, NW1 8RN
FOOD: Jugad
New to NW1, Jugad is a healthy concept by meal delivery service @foodhak and its biggish 92-seat restaurant, with terrace, is a relatively recent arrival at the Stables Market, a notoriously difficult longterm spot for restaurants, as both The Farrier and the Good Egg have found.
Its modern Indian menu, gluten and dairy-free, is the brainchild of executive chef Jose Fernandesto from Tower Bridge’s classic Gunpowder Restaurant, with main courses including pan-fried sea bass with mole sauce and beetroot poriyal, Delhi-style butter chicken and beef with pepper skewers and pineapple salad. You can perch at big wooden tables within its typically exposed brick walls. Let’s hope this one’s a keeper. @jugadbyfoodhak
Kentishtowner turns 15 soon – which isn’t too shabby for an independent food & culture site run on almost zero resources. And, as usual, a billion thanks to those who donate. But to put it into perspective, that’s just under 5% of readers in the last year. If you’re sitting on the fence a bit, maybe just ping over a couple of quid? After all, that’s cheaper than a coffee almost anywhere these days. Support Kentishtowner here
