Kkini
Meaning ‘meal’ in Korean, this simply furnished but elegant barbecue restaurant, which opened late last year, replaces the much-loved Ceremony. Already busy, even on weekday lunchtimes, it’s an instant hit with a tantalising menu which includes signature fried chicken and sweet chilli sauce, bibimbap, fried udon, soups and well-priced £7.50 lunch boxes. And of course you can grill your own meat at the table. More info @kkini_korean_grill, open daily at 131 Fortess Road NW5
East West
An innovative-sounding pizzeria on Fortess Road (in the former Stingray) is hoping to bring a fresh take on the wood-fired stuff to Kentish Town and Tufnell Park. Founded by local restaurateur Devinder Singh, its USP is a heady marriage of southern Italian-style pizzas with the home-cooked recipes and flavours of northern India. Expect exposed brick and communal tables across two floors – oh, and tongue-tingling taste combos. From Feb 12th TBC, 135 Fortess Road NW5 2HR
The Patate
This new central Kentish Town opening, replacing Beef & Brew, is the streetfood concept’s first bricks-and-mortar site. The brainchild of founders Paul-Henry De Vassoigne and Martin Le Boulc’h, it will offer a range of French-inspired dishes, including their flagship beef bourguignon burger. The design of the new space will boast an on-trend open kitchen overlooking about thirty seats. Opens Feb TBC, 323 Kentish Town Road NW5
