If you regularly pass through Camden Overground station you’ll have seen that the subterranean former toilets, at the junction of Royal College Street, have slowly been transformed over the past year.
Right by the railway bridge (and future home to the High Line), the distinctive signage (identical to the Kentish Town original) is up, and the detritus that had inevitably piled up in the disused public bogs has most definitely been removed.
Yes, Ladies and Gentlemen 2 flings its doors open tonight and, as you can see from these photos, expect another chic basement hangout – complete with lots of natural light – together with a daily changing menu of always intriguing bespoke libations and concoctions (note to self: must try and be more adventurous than a negroni).
The first location, right up by the Bull & Gate, opened in late 2014 and, along with Knowhere Special, Boulogne Bar and pioneering Shebeen (now Jukes), has been a main player in Kentish Town’s now-established mini cocktail scene.
L & G number two is the latest addition to what is an increasingly neighbourhoody part of Camden. Other recentish arrivals are community-focused coffee shop The Living Room, the delish Pizzeria Di Camden, Rullo’s and cavernous craft beer joint the Draft House.
Without further ado then, it’s time to go ‘wet’ – and spend a penny in style.
