Emmie McGee

What’s your practice? I’m an illustrator living in Kentish Town. I specialise in continuous line drawings and various printing methods, focusing on portraiture and fashion.

How does the area inspire you? I’ve lived here now for nearly three years, although spent a lot of my childhood around NW5. The diversity and creativity of the locality inspires me a lot, particularly with the thriving music scene and independently owned businesses.

What are you most proud of and why? My illustration of Amy Winehouse. I created it out of my admiration for her and had a lot of interest from people wanting to purchase it – I had a batch of giclee prints made and began selling them.

Where’s your favourite place to hang out? The Dublin Castle, Aces and Eights, the Junction – all pubs of course.
