Strange as it may seem now, didn’t this once-pioneering festival revolutionise the capital’s streetfood scene? After all, it started back in 2004 (in fact, we attended the first event at Somerset House).
And next week, once again Taste of London is again set to transform a currently very verdant looking Regent’s Park into a foodie wonderland with forty restaurants, a ragbag of chefs, interactive masterclasses and live entertainment for five days.
Expect cookery giants like Tom Kerridge, Nathan Outlaw, Thomasina Miers (of Wahaca fame), and Francesco Mazzei (read our review of his new restaurant Radici here), while punters can gobble taster-sized portions of 160 signature dishes. Although not, we imagine, at the same time.
Popping up for the first time are Neil Rankin’s subterranean BBQ sensation Temper, Soho-based Peruvian BBQ Señor Ceviche and Duck & Waffle Local, with lots of hoary old faves too like Club Gascon, Roka, Sartoria and Cinnamon Club.
Plus craft beer (obvs), what they call “creative” cocktails (ie no Woo-Woos please) – and a whisky den with secret entrances.
At least the royal park’s on hand to do a few laps afterwards.
