What have you got lined up in the next few weeks?
The next music night is Underground Soul on 3rd June, back for its 20th party as part of this year’s Kentish Fleet Festival. And after that the Edinburgh Previews begin and run throughout June and July.

What bands or artists have been the biggest hits recently?
Matthew James Crutchlow played his new album live in full earlier this month, and Leo Buckley had a fortnightly slot for a while. And folk star Sample Answer is always a smash. He brings a decent following and has made it big within the last two years. He has a monthly residency downstairs, so look out for his next gig on our social media networks or the website.

What makes him special in your mind?
Originally from Dublin, Maurice O’Connor (his real name) was a homeless busker when first discovered. He’s a charming lad who’s made quite an impression on us. We love his style of music and his laidback, chilled attitude towards life, which I guess is what his music is like: very melodic with catchy lyrics and original vocals. Recommended tracks to listen to are Textile Baby and Good Boy.

Sum up the vibes in the Rose and Crown generally.
The pub always has a great vibe about it, with each day different: we have so many events on, and people come from all over London to try the many craft beers we have on our rotating taps. Customers love the streetfood pop-ups that change every three months. There’s also a pub quiz every Tuesday which has rollover jackpot: the biggest ever won was £850.

What else goes down in the basement?
Without really trying, it’s also become very popular with live stand-up comedy. It must be because we don’t charge anything for event space hire. We’re fully booked with the Edinburgh previews until August, give or take a few Saturdays that can be reserved for private parties. Or, of course, gigs.

More info on upcoming comedy and music shows can be found here. The pub is located at 71-73 Torriano Avenue, NW5.
