Three-time British Blues Award-winning Marcus Bonfanti, indie-dance outfit CRHØMA, award-winning spoken word artist Tom Gill, and local DJ set Man Like Me join forces for a proper north London tear up at Proud Camden this week, to celebrate local charity North London Cares‘ fourth birthday.
Bonfanti, CRHØMA’s Kyriacos Michael and the charity’s founder Alex Smith all went to school at William Ellis, and the guys from Man Like Me attended Acland Burghley and are well known local spinners. Meanwhile, Gill’s charismatic social commentary and famously razor sharp wit should provide the context for a top night – all for a great local cause.
North London Cares is a community network of young professionals and older neighbours, hanging out and helping one another in a rapidly changing city. The charity was launched four years ago amid rioting to tackle isolation and loneliness, to improve wellbeing, confidence and connection in an increasingly anonymous environment, and to reduce the gap across generational divides.
“Kentishtowners will know how fast and exciting our capital can be for so many – but equally how some people, particularly our older neighbours, can get left behind,” says charity founder Alex Smith. “The gig at Proud offers an introduction to some great local acts gaining national exposure, while supporting North London Cares to continue our work.”
