MUST DO: Korova has opened in Tufnell Park

All-day dining hits Campdale Road on the site that used to be Bunny Little's Bakery

It was a shame to see Bunny Little’s Bakery close down earlier this year. But the good news is that the new occupiers, Sital and Steve Wilmot, who’ve lived in the area for 15 years, first heard about the space when they saw it advertised on the Kentishtowner.

“We actually discovered the site through the your newspaper and decided it was the perfect venue for our new project,” says Sital.

Yay. But what does Korova mean? “We’ve maintained the building’s original art deco features, which date back to when there was a dairy at the site in the 1930s. The name simply translates as ‘cow’ in many European languages, and so in a way honours its history.”

The aim is to serve the local community from morning to night with “the best coffee, breakfast and brunch cooked to order,” Sital says. Expect a modern European a la carte menu too, which “tips its hat to the best of British, French and Mediterranean cuisine”. Many products are sourced locally from north London, and head chef Salim Kaid has an impressive CV, having previously worked at the rib room at Jumeirah Carlton Tower, and Dorset Square hotel.

Korova also features a petite cocktail bar serving classics such as Vesper Martinis, Negronis and Juleps, many of which the couple will prepare at your table.

But families aren’t forgotten either. “Being parents to two kids under four we’re also very child-friendly with high chairs, baby changing and free fruit for kids,” she says.

So why not follow the herd over to Campdale Road this weekend?

Find Korova at 9 Campdale Rd, London N7. Open 8am until 1030pm daily (9am weekends, 5pm closure Mondays). Find out more here.
