With the news yesterday that the legendary Black Cap in Camden Town is at risk of becoming a chain cafe, it seems this weekend’s Pride is essential to support – whatever your sexuality.
In a nutshell, what is it and when?
The Pride in London Parade takes place on Saturday 27th June. The Parade leaves Baker Street at 1pm and ends at Whitehall at approximately 430pm. More than 250 groups are registered to take part; individuals cannot join the Parade unless they are in a registered group. See link inthe box for more details.
OK, but where’s the party?
The big free afternoon bash (though the organisers would like you to donate £3) is in Trafalgar Square once again, where acts include Blue, Collabro and Rebecca Ferguson, Bright Light Bright Light, and BB Diamond. It’s always a a riot, and super-friendly too. Times are 1pm-8pm.
But are there any events in Camden this year?
Despite the absence of north London’s most iconic gay bar, there’s plenty going on, including a Gay Outdoor Club Pride walk, which is an annual pre-Pride get together meeting tonight (Thursday 25th June) at Chalk Farm Station, 630pm; a Magic Maverick Gender Identity Workshop, for children and parents at the Roundhouse (£3, 430pm and 6pm) on Friday 26th June; and an exhibition of photography of London’s LGBT+ community at the New Bloomsbury Set (just off Marchmont Street), showing daily until Sunday 28th June.
