MUSIC: don’t miss Howard Marks and friends
This one-off event at The Forum was announced after Marks revealed that he was diagnosed with an inoperable form of bowel cancer. Also starring: Cerys Matthews, John Cooper Clarke, Alabama 3, Rob Da Bank, Super Furry Animals and Rhys Ifans, who played Marks in the film adaptation of his biography Mr Nice. Proceeds go towards helping the cancer treatment, setting up a charitable Mr Nice Foundation and completing a documentary about Marks. February 27, 8pm. Tickets £25 here
POP-UP: Tan Like That
A former beauty salon is the setting for Kentish Town’s innovative new temporary arts space. Citrus Lush Bongo is a three-week “pop-up art extravaganza” from Take Me Home Projects, a collaborative which specialises in atypical locations. First up (until Sunday) are four contemporary artists (Jonathan Kelly, Miriam Maselkowski, Declan Jenkins, Magdalena Drwiega). Next week, the space is for creatives to “use and explore as they see fit” (until March 8), before a salon-style show from a broad spectrum of artists rounds things off. FOOD: new scran at the Grafton
We’ve been a little too snowed under with the launch of our brand new east London title to try the new chef and kitchen at the award-winning Prince Of Wales Road boozer this week. But a lingering glimpse at the menu – noses pressed against the window – has been sending our tastebuds into overdrive. The concept seems to be a mix of small plates (tempura broccoli), useful things to share (charcuterie), non-cliched vegetarian options (raw veg pasta) and full-on posh pub classics (burgers, lamb neck stew, steak and chips). NEW VENUE: Camden Foundry
This spanking new venue is located in the Stables Market, and reckons it’s a “cultural hot spot”. Judge for yourself with Artfinder, a three-dayer which will include physical art by London artists, live artist demonstrations, and an interactive digital experience with access to artworks from the global Artfinder community. Tomorrow sees an evening bash, Blank Canvas Art and Music, with live choons from local band Carnabys. Friday 27 until Sunday March 1 (11-7pm, closing 6pm Sun). Free.
