My name is Lili Bé; I am French, and studied art and English in France before moving to Kentish Town six years ago, where I work as an illustrator.
I have just done a series of handmade drawings of the best pubs in Kentish Town, inspired by the list the Kentistowner previously published (which was voted for by readers of both this title and the Londonist).
Why? Because living in London is inspiring. I like English people, I like being in a multicultural city and I have always felt so welcome here. Even better, I love the area, and have met so many people – not to mention drawn alot of buildings.
Scribbling in small Moleskine notebooks is one of my favourite things. What I also like very much is telling all about my experience as a French person living in London in my illustrated blog (mostly in French, sorry, but feel free to use the “translate” button!) 130 cartons à London.
I also illustrate children books and French guide books that you can even find in Owl Bookshop on the Kentish Town Road. And I’ve had quite a few orders from Londoners asking a drawing of their own house. So if that’s you, get in touch on Twitter or via my blog.
Oh, and as for my personal favourite “boozers”? The Grafton, the Brewery and the Assembly House.
