In Pictures: Holloway Arts Festival 2014

N7's annual week-long cultural festie kicks off this weekend. Read on for the highlights - plus a gallery of what to expect

Not so familiar with the packed cultural thoroughfare that is Holloway Road? We suggest a) you read our recent guide here and b) swing by the annual festival, which kicks off on Sunday.

It’s in its twelfth year, no less. And to celebrate, organisers Rowan Arts promise that streets, parks and buildings across the neighbourhood will brim over with live music, dance, film, poetry, art and interactive performance. Not to mention talks, workshops and a conference on ‘Making Things Happen’. Phew.

The theme for 2014 is ‘Meet the Neighbours’: appropriately enough, proceedings therefore start with a brand new outdoor event, Hornsey Street Festival (Sunday 1-5pm), featuring “live art” duo Hunt and Darton (pictured in slideshow). Elsewhere, expect performance artist Bobby Baker and theatre director Phelim McDermott, who’ll offer up insights as keynote speakers at the Owning the Arts conference (also pictured, above).

And, finally, two enticing new additions are Holloway Ladies Circle, a series of informal conversations between women who work in cultural fields, and Holloway Lates, a showcase for original music at hip new Holloway venue, Filthy’s.
