A Kentishtowner kid strikes a pose

Sassy, huh? That's the kind of baby goat you get at Kentish Town City Farm. Plus news of their Sunday morning cafe, and spring events

No, we don’t normally report on the birthing of sticky mammals in the neighbourhood.

But just take a look at this pretty cool kid. Not camera shy, in the least. Sassy, even. And half a dozen of ’em are currently padding wide-eyed round the UK’s oldest city farm. Not to mention an adorable baby lamb or six (see one of the little mites below).

So it’s worth heading over this weekend – preferably with an under-5 in tow – and gawping at the restorative powers of Mother Nature. And while you’re there, check out some new stuff going on. For example, there’s now a Sunday morning cafe where, after waving hello to the piglets, you can retreat for a cup of hot chocolate, coffee, or tea and cakes.

Awwww: a perfect new-born lamb.

The farm – which some feared was threatened with closure – was recently awarded £166,000 by Camden Council, the money providing a much-needed new drainage system and a log cabin.

And in other news? A quiz night at the Sir Robert Peel pub on Queen’s Crescent takes place every couple of months, as well as guest speaker events at the farm over the summer. Plus this Sunday, 16th March, there’s a table top sale too (midday till 3pm). Expect second hand bargains, bric-a-brac, clothes, as well as homemade cakes and pony rides for the kids. The human kind, that is.

If you’d like to get involved with anything at the City Farm please call Simone on 0207 916 5421. For more details on future events see their website here
