Head to South Town

Camden Town Brewery's first bash of the year takes place this Saturday afternoon. And down the road, the Grafton are going big for St Patrick's Day all weekend too

You don’t need us to tell you that Camden Town Brewery are on something of a roll.

It’s just over two years to the day since owner Jasper flung open his doors to hundreds of excitable Kentishtowners, and every time we visit, it’s that bit more squished – even on a chilly March evening.

Now it’s spring, new beers are being birthed like sticky lambs. And this Saturday sees their first festie of 2014 to celebrate the launch of a “red ale” called South Town, created with Suffolk brewery Adnams.

We would, of course, like to tell you how fantastic it is, but the promotional bottles seem to have got lost in the post. Ahem.

Anyway, we can – we suppose – wait till the weekend for the grand tasting. Not to mention what they’re saying will be “a mash-up of awesome street food traders channelling inner-city Camden meets seaside Southwold vibes”.

Yes, really. A summer holiday vibe will apparently hit NW5 several months early as the popular mews is strewn with beach-style deck chairs and an outdoor cask bar. If it sounds a little seasonally ambitious, fingers crossed at least for some rays.

Oh, and don’t forget to swing by the Grafton if you’re on a Saturday afternoon pub crawl, as they’ve booked a whole weekend of St Patrick’s Day diversions, including cocktails concocted with Camden Ink beer, live music aplenty and, on Sunday night, a proper Irish singsong.

Camden Town Brewery, Wilkin Street Mews, from 1-6pm Sat 15 March. All weekend at The Grafton from Friday
