So what went down at this annual community bash? And don't forget to check out our gallery of pics from both the festival and rebooted Saturday street market

Did you come down to Queen’s Crescent on Saturday? A couple of thousand flocked to the longstanding market street to check out the new stalls – as well as the afternoon’s busy festival schedule. And happily it was warm, but not too hot (with none of the gusts of wind that caused havoc at Alma Street).

The biggest crowd of the day? The “Camden Has Talent” stage, where 12 finalists did their performing thang, including Lucy Evans, who belted out Total Eclipse of the Heart, and David Bennie whose “Because I Can” dance routine came second. Congrats to winner Grace Fleary, who scooped the £500 prize. And behind the action were kids’ fairground rides, a diverse array of stalls – and an obligatory Elvis impersonator. Ahem.

The food? Yum. Neriman sandwiches – the hog roast peeps from Archway Market – were doing a brisk trade, as were The Grafton, whose new kitchen resident the Fat Butcher were serving up tender salt beef ‘n’ slaw sarnies. Also on hand were sausagey experts Top Dog, Marisco’s fish tacos, and the various Indian and Jerk Chicken grills. And artisan patissier Clare Zerny sold out of her mouthwatering tarts (we especially loved the salted peanut and chocolate cheesecake). To drink? A booze-free zone, but we enjoyed a decent americano or two from the new Coffee Bay cart.

With the crowds out, we hope the weekly stalls – the multicultural mini-markets, Donna’s flowers and Jack’s daily fruit ‘n’ veg – all enjoyed a boost too, and of the course the new antiques market at the eastern end.
