In recent weeks there’s been a definite surge in stalls on the once-struggling Queen’s Crescent Market, before its much anticipated relaunch on August 10th as part of the annual community festival.

Queen's Crescent MarketThursdays seem especially vibrant with the road crammed with everything from clothes stalls to all manner of edibles. And it’s often as crowded as Oxford Street. In fact, it now reminds us of a smaller version of Dalston’s vibrant Ridley Road Market, and, in this hot weather, we particularly love the chargrilled chicken stand with its booming reggae basslines.

And as well as the established stalls, like Jack’s daily fruit ‘n’ veg, the new antiques market at the eastern end is also blossoming.

So remember, it’s a very long running Kentish Town institution (pre-dating Camden Market by over a century, no less) – as well as being one of London’s oldest street markets. Let’s make it a real hangout for locals and Londoners alike.

ps: don’t forget another institution tonight (Thurs): Michael Ptootch’s monthly Thursday bash, featuring work by artists Gideon Conn and Germaine Smith, Jay Stoner on the decks, and a choir in the garden to complement your cocktails. Youch.
