Pinboard: What’s new at The Grafton? Plus local markets + Skate King’s Cross

This week: Queen's Crescent, a free all-day festival at Camden Lock, the 40th anniversary exhibition of Kentish Town City Farm - and top authors at Owl Bookshop.

The Fat Butcher debuted at The Grafton's Alma Street stall - and yes that's Joel.
The Fat Butcher debuted at The Grafton’s Alma Street stall – and no that’s not him, that’s Joel.

It’s bye bye hipster burgers. Following the end of the Lucky Chip pop-up, The Grafton’s kitchen has been closed most of this week whilst they ready themselves for their latest food offer.

“Many of you may have already met The Fat Butcher,” says co-owner Joel (pictured), “who jointly ran our Grafton Ale and Oyster Bar at Alma Street Fair. Well, the big man is due to launch his own kitchen here from late August, featuring more of those fantastic oysters alongside a host of regularly-changing seasonal dishes and bar snacks.”

But starting today, The Grafton will reopen its own kitchen in the interim, serving an array of summer fare from outdoor barbecues to salads, as well as their much-missed scotch eggs. “Look out,” says Susie, as “there may also be the occasional pop-up to look forward to before The Fat Butcher takes over, such as the Wiggies rooftop hog roast on Wednesday 17th July.”

Meanwhile, Scratchline Tattoos, whom we interviewed here, have an ongoing promotion with the Kentish Town boozer. “Each of the artists at the studio have been creating designs that will be available to be tattooed on Saturday for a special price,” says co-owner Jessie. “After that we will stamp their card which is valid for a free drink.” And all that to a soundtrack of Andrés, a DJ from Barcelona will be DJing rock’n’roll, psychobilly, rockabily and punk (9pm).
