3. Get involved in Kentish Town’s summer carnival
Most of you will probably have heard by now of Many Cultures, One Community, the lottery-funded project which aims to document recent social history, and make everyone celebrate Kentish Town. And guess what? The big event of the year is a Carnival on June 16, hopefully taking place in and around Talacre.
Starting in the second week of the Easter Holidays (April 9, 10 and 11) the MCOC team will be offering opportunities for everyone to be involved. “We need young people aged between 15 and 25 years old to attend workshops where they’ll be taken on tours, learn how to devise informative walks and communicate ideas to groups of people,” says organiser Sara Newman. “Participants will be shown how to conduct successful interviews and select the most juicy bits for an audio booth using digital editing. Besides this, rehearsals for the carnival event itself start on April 24.”
So if you’re under 25 (or are the parents of 15-25 year olds) and looking for something inspiring to do this Easter holidays, get in touch by email: manyculturesonecommunity@gmail.com or calling Sara direct on 07792 143 296
