Pinboard: Dach & Sons no more – plus Club Kali, DRAF, Station Sessions and St Patrick’s Day

2. Dach & Sons Closed

dach and sons dach & sons

So we learnt this week that Heath Street “hipster” slider bar Dach & Sons – and its upstairs speakeasy – has closed. I know, hipster and Hampstead are about as unlikely a combo as champagne and hot dogs (er…) But anyway, we enjoyed our single visit last year, while surprised that the owners of Old Street’s Whistling Shop and Purl were opening in an area not exactly renowned for embracing the zeitgeist.

“The last 9 months have been a huge learning experience for us,” they write on their website, “and whilst both Dach & Sons and Flat P were amazingly well received initially, we have failed to reach the volume of trade that we had hoped for.”

Shame. All we say is that if they had opened in Kentish Town, they would’ve cleaned up. Just look at how rammed the Brewery bar, Southampton, Abbey, Grafton/Lucky Chip and Chicken Shop are nightly.
