3. We Support Shebeen’s Late Licence bid
Last night we were alarmed to hear that NW5’s most genteel speakeasy is still trying to secure its permanent 2am weekend licence in the face of persistent local opposition. Come on Kentishtowners! It’s 2013, for goodness’ sake. And this is one of the most charming independent new openings in the last year: its esoteric list of libations coupled with a soundtrack of 1920s jazz and eclectic soul does not a hooligan make. Plus it’s several feet underground in former Victorian police cells, to boot. And don’t we need a couple of late night drinking options locally? And for those who fear Camden is ‘creeping’ up on us; it isn’t. Kentish Town’s spirit is unique.
