KENTISH TOWN: Music Day at Patron
Music Day – or Fête de la Musique – is a big annual community thing in France and, after its inaugural outing courtesy of French bistro Patron last year, it’s back again with a mini-fest of live music centred on its two Fortess Road venues.
A much bigger affair this time, performances start at 1pm and include talented songstress Florence Joelle. There’ll be a road closure on part of Fortess to make things more fun for revellers, and local businesses will be serving drinks and food together, so expect the usual bar, cafe and pub suspects, including the Rose & Crown, Ladies and Gentlemen, SK Vintage, Knowhere Special and Jessica de Lotz Jewellery. There’s – naturally – a canine competition too. 25th June,1pm-7pm. 16 Fortess Road NW5
HIGHGATE: Fair in the Square
Since it emerged after George Michael’s death that the superstar contributed significantly to its existence, this annual N6 event is surely even more of a must-do this year. The theme is tropical (Club Tropicana?): expect live entertainment, trad attractions and over a hundred stalls selling gifts, crafts, plants, clothes, books, plus streetfood galore. Free, 17th June, 12:30-5:30pm, Pond Square Highgate N6
HAMPSTEAD: South End Green Festival
Celebrating summer ‘togetherness’, this year’s festival sees the usual streetfood, bars, craft stalls, children’s fair and, importantly, pooches taking to the lower levels of NW3. Live music has also been programmed by the reputable Fiddler’s Elbow venue on Malden Road. All profits go towards supporting local initiatives. 25th June, Runs all day 12-7pm, South End Green NW3
