Flour Station is coming to Camden Market

NW1's foodie reinvention continues apace. But it's not just about the bread...

Dough connoisseurs amongst you will be thrilled at the news that craft baker types Flour Station are about to open their first café in Camden’s increasingly food-obsessed Market. (And it’s right next to Voodoo Ray’s, if you fancy ‘double-breading’ with some pizza afterwards.)

There’ll be an appropriately market feel inside the store, with loaves, cakes and pastries baked on site. So yep, things are gonna smell pretty good in there.

Some backstory? Well, after starting out in the kitchen of Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen restaurant in 2001, their first stall opened in Borough Market back in 2004, and they now have nine dotted across all the usual suspects in the capital.

Camden’s bricks-and-mortar cafe will stay true to its roots by collaborating with producers such as British charcuterie from Cannon & Cannon, Neal’s Yard Cheese, Borough Wines and Vadasz Deli. Coffee is courtesy of the reliable Monmouth.

They’re also going big on the humble traybake, turning a sometimes under-rated item into what they’re (humbly?) calling a series of “individual masterpieces of every shape and size”. Expect decadent salted chocolate brownies, soft, jammy oat and raspberry slices, and savoury tomatoes, basil, onions, spinach and cheese.

Lunch will be prepared by chef Chris Honor, owner of ChrisKitch, who has restaurant-cafes in Hoxton and Muswell Hill. There’ll be salads, Scandinavian open-faced rye sandwiches and sticky toffee buns.

Naturally it’s an all-day, all-night kinda place so dinner will see sharing platters, piled high with produce, served alongside a selection of wines or Toast Ale, who Flour Station work with to transform their waste bread handily into beers.

All rise. And so on.

Flour Station launches at 9am, 2nd November at 91 Stables Market NW1. The first 100 guests through the door will bag a slice of traybake on the house. More info on their website here
