Some good news? The year’s other most scenic pitstop is now open (if you’ve not tried the lovely Arbour Cafe down the road in Kentish Town, why not check out both this weekend?)

As we revealed a few months ago, the exciting thing about the new-look Lido Cafe is that it’s now open to the public both on the Hampstead Heath side and poolside – for the first time ever.

View over the pool to the new hangout on the Heath.
Poolside: view over to the new hangout at the Lido.

Serving coffee, cakes and sandwiches, the caff overlooking the lido’s nothing-less-than-spectacular 60m pool joins the nearby bandstand cafe (now successfully still run by the D’Auria family) as an alternative bucolic hangout.

And they’re taking their roasts seriously. “Our beans are currently being supplied by Allpress, using their Redchurch blend for espresso and Three Bells Blend for filter,” says owner Tara Kingsley. “We’re using the Estate Dairy unhomogenised milk, too.”

The temporary set-up will remain open until just after the summer, when a “modest renovation project” is scheduled to take place. The plan is to open up the kitchen area in the building and create a space that will function as an after-hours community area, as well as a café.

Until then, dive in.

Anybody interested in holding events at the café during the autumn/winter period should email phflidocafe@gmail.com. Lido Cafe, Parliament Hill Fields is open seven days a week, from 8am to 6pm, until September 9
