Have you been down the Beach yet? We sloped off early last Friday and spent a memorable afternoon lounging on a couple of deckchairs, the sun peeping through the clouds, before a swift escape as it filled up with the post-work party crowd.
We also ate at Fishy Business, the pop-up from acclaimed downstairs restaurant Made, which offers set menus for the duration of NW1’s finest coastal strip.
As we said last summer, it’s one cute beachside diner: think nautical regalia, linen table cloths, and even a chef cooking fresh fish right in front of you. Starters are served in cute tins with olives and chewy sourdough: smoked mackerel rillettes were mustardy rich and creamy, while Atlantic tuna had the edge in terms of flavour.
Meanwhile, there are just a handful of piscine mains: a lightly battered fish and chips comes with wasabi mushy peas and aioli; grilled sea bass with blackberry and potato salad, and best of all, a fillet of sea bream with zingy sun-dried tomato, red pepper and rocket.
The wine list has a couple of sunny pale pink French rosés (from £18) alongside decent value whites and reds; and, for the sweet-toothed, easily shareable desserts like summer berry trifle and home-made ice cream.
The good news? Roundhouse are offering two readers a 3-course meal and a bottle of wine between now and 23 August, which includes queue jump onto Camden Beach.
To be in with a chance, simply answer this stupidly easy question: what is the name of the pop-up restaurant on Camden Beach? Email your answer today to events@kentishtowner.co.uk and the first to arrive gets the prize. Sorted.
