Word reaches us that Kentish Town’s Dirty Burger – the original location for Soho House Group’s now international burger brand – has closed down.
The grill shack, hidden under a fire escape in a car park, was a huge hit when it launched back in 2012, with queues around the block, and London’s foodie tourists making special sorties up to the wilds of Highgate Road.
But clearly, as outlets have popped up in other London neighbourhoods, the original location has struggled without the day trippers, and hasn’t been able to encourage enough locals to regularly load up on their unashamedly calorific offering.
However, somewhat cryptically, this may not quite be the end for the shack. A statement on the Dirty Burger website says: “Our Kentish Town location is now closed. We’d like to thank all of our customers and our wonderful staff for their loyalty over these years and will keep you posted if we reopen in this location.”
Keep an eye on that famous iron door, burger fans, it may yet swing open to welcome us inside again.
