Saint Espresso is about to open

It's taken its time, but top beans and tasty lunches await in the airy spot above Knowhere Special

This new cafe above revived hit basement cocktail bar Knowhere Special is from the guys behind the (slightly) pioneering Leyas down in Mornington Crescent.

The site has had a long and difficult recent past, involving difficult landlords and bankruptcy, so it’s something of a relief to see it looking so shiny.

“We’re very excited to be coming to Kentish Town,” reckons owner Leon. “But sorting out this site has unfortunately taken a lot longer than expected.”

It’ll instantly be one of the best places in the area to grab a coffee. Photo: SE

You bet it has. Months, in fact. So what can sleepy (and peckish) readers expect? “First and foremost some great coffee,” he says, “for which we’re already known for over at Angel Islington, Baker Street and at our sister shop Leyas in Camden,” he says.

“We’re now roasting ourselves and looking forward to bringing this to NW5. We’ll also be serving up the very best small batch teas, sourced by our friends at Lelani and Co, a top hot chocolate and chai tea.”

And on the food front it’s an unsurprising but obviously mouthwatering mix of on-trend brunches, toasties and homemade sweet and savoury goodies.

Not exactly saintly then. But still.

Saint Espresso opens on Saturday 11th March, 9am, at 296 Kentish Town Rd NW5. For more details on the opening follow @saintespresso
